Blood donation programme held at EWU
East West University (EWU) Rotaract Club organised a voluntary blood donation programme on the EWU premise at Aftabnagar in the capital on Wednesday, says a press release.
The programme was inaugurated by the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees, EWU and former governor of the Bangladesh Bank Mohammed Farashuddin along with the Vice-Chancellor of EWU MM Shahidul Hassan.
They appreciated the members of Ratarect Club for taking this initiative. The modarators of EWU Rotaract Club, Chowdhury Omar Sharif and Mizanur Rashid Rupk and the members’ of the EWU Rotaract Club also present on the occasion.  Students from different departments attended the programme to donate blood.  

Seminar on awareness on anti-terrorism held
‘Alliance for Resistance of Terrorism and Communalism’ in association with North South University (NSU) held a seminar on raising awareness on Anti-Terrorism for NSU students and faculty members at NSU auditorium Wednesday, says a press release.
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu was the chief guest of the seminar where Professor MM Akash, DU, Professor Mohammad A Arafat, Dr Sarwar Ali, Artist Nazma Aktar, Artist Kamal Pasha Chowdhury, Member Secretary, Alliance for Resist Communal Terrorism, Ex- Major General Abdur Rasid, Syed Istiak Reza, addressed the audience along with Azim Uddin Ahmed, Chairman, NSU BOT, and Professor Atiqul Islam, Vice Chancellor, NSU. Journalist Abed Khan was the Convener of the seminar.
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu said that terrorists who carried out recent terrorist attacks at Gulshan cafe, Dhaka and Solakia Eidgah, Kishoreganj do not belong to any institution, family or any religion. They are against to all humanitarian. He believed that 22,000 students of NSU are also against this extremism and would work together to fight against this disease.  

CUTA holds anti-militancy rally
CHITTAGONG: Chittagong University Teachers Association (CUJA) on Wednesday held an anti-militancy rally on the university campus.
Hundreds of teachers, students and leaders of different progressive and left-leaning organisations and a number of literary and cultural forums of the university participated in the rally held against countrywide militant activities.
Held on the university Shahid Minar premises, the rally was presided over by CUTA President Dr Awrongojeb. Vice-chancellor of Chittagong University Dr Iftakher Uddin Chowdhury and Pro-VC Dr Shrine Akther addressed the function as chief guest and special guest. “Militancy must be rooted out from the country and a collective war should be waged against it”, they viewed.
