NID database aided militant identification
Simply, it was fingerprints that helped the police to ascertain the identities of seven out of nine alleged militants killed in Kalyanpur raid on Tuesday, sources said.
Their identities were confirmed after the fingerprint samples of their bodies matched with that of the corresponding national identity (NID) cards. The law enforcers just had to access the NID card database at the Election Commission and match the finger print samples.
The decision to take the help of the EC database was taken after it became difficult for the police to establish the identity of the militants.
