Police officer goes on FB, counters criticism

The counter-terrorism chief of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Monirul Islam, in a Facebook post yesterday,  replied to people who raised questions about the success of the police operation in Kalyanpur.
Nine militants were killed and one caught alive in the operation on Tuesday. The police official gave a status on Facebook yesterday following the criticism of the Kalyanpur operation in social media. Some people have been spreading conspiracy theories on social media by raising many questions about the operation. Some of them claim that that the entire operation was a police set up.
Monirul Islam in his Facebook status wrote: “At least four police officers were killed and 42 other officers injured, three militants arrested and the others militants managed to escape during the law enforcers drive at Kalyanpur militants den. Sorry, if you want to see such type of news, then we are sorry that could not fulfill your desire. We are extremely sorry for that we could able to such news to you (sic)."
Monirul Islam himself took the liberty of picking up several questions like “How could you label them as militants without knowing their name and addresses?” “Why did they go to bed wearing a certain type of Panjabi and sneakers?” “How is it possible to fire continuously from four pistols?” “Why they (militants) were not caught alive?”  He said such questions would not have been raised, had the questioner been aware of the history of such anti-militancy operations.
“The entire social media is discussing that neighbours said people (militants) in that flat had chanted slogans in favour of so-called jihad, so-called IS flag was found in their room, huge books on extremism were found. Still, is there any research necessary to understand whether they are militants (sic)?” he wrote.
Monirul said one does not have to be an intellectual to understand whether the militants had time to sleep or wear such dress between 1am and 5:50am, which is between the first and the final encounter.
