British Council closes all offices temporarily

Against the backdrop of recent terrorist attacks in the country, all the offices of the British Council in Bangladesh will remain closed until the organisation puts new security measures in place.
“The British Council has temporarily closed its offices in Bangladesh in order to review their security procedures,” the British Council announced in a press release yesterday.
“The organisation hopes to reopen its offices and resume normal services to the public once new security measures are in place,” said the release.
“We recognise that people in Bangladesh are increasingly concerned about safety and security in public places. The safety and security of our staff and customers is always our top priority,” said Barbara Wickham, Director of British Council Bangladesh. Therefore, she said, “We have taken the decision to temporarily close our offices in order
to review our security practices.  During this temporary closure, our customer services will be responding to queries through email: [email protected].”  British Council is
the UK’s international organisation for educational opportunities and cultural relations.
It creates int’l opportunities for the people of the UK and other countries and builds trust between them worldwide.  It works in more than 100 countries and its 7,000 staff , including 2,000 teachers, work with thousands of professionals and policymakers and millions of young people every year by teaching English, sharing the arts and delivering education and society programmes.
