The defending champions Sheikh Jamal and  runners-up Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra will play their second match of the Bangladesh Premier League Football  today while the two top teams of the last season cut a sorry figure in their respective first match here.
Specially, Sheikh Russel, who embarked on their journey with a solitary goal defeat at the hands of lowly Uttar Baridhara will try to survive from the disaster as their coach Maruful Haque was very much disappointed with the team’s strength right now.
Maruf, who is not satisfied and was disheartened failing to form the team according to his choice said, “Actually the start was not a happy note and I think it was a predicted result according to our team standard. Rahmatganj is a goods team, to win Sheikh Russel would have to play above their capacity and will have to dominate the show.”
“In comparison to team strength, Rahmatganj and Sheikh Russel are same, 50-50.We have no good striker, no winger and no defender, midfield is an only the dependable position and there is also deficient of quality foreign players.”
Captain Atiqur Rahman Meshu said defeat againt Baridhara, very disappointing, nothing to say and nothing to excuse, players were mentally downed, now recovered. Will play to win, but Rahmatganj is strong side I have to respect them.”
Kamal Babu: counterpart of Maruful Haque, said, “For long time we have tag as giant killers but now we don’t want to hear it, because teams are almost equal strength.”
“We started the league with point, in the past we had to start a season with conceding goals, now we start with obtaining points.”
Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, who made a discomfort start with losing a point after a 1-1 draw with Arambagh, will try to come back from today’s math against Baridhara, as coach Mosharraf Badal expected to win the match.
Manager Anwarul Karim Helal said, “Team’s condition is not good enough, Emeka red card, some players, including Yasin are ill. But we will try to play good football to win he match,” said Helal.
Caoch Badal, who took the charge of Jamal in a crisis moment when the team’s head coach Shafiqul Islam Manik was sacked right five day’s before the start of the league said that he was trying to motivate players.
Coach Rashed Ahmed Pappu, said, “Our target is to play good football Sheikh Jamal will under pressure not we, and we will take this advantage. Main target to draw and if win, it will be a bonus. We want to surprise with youngsters. Boys’ confidence is very high.”
