Law enforcers in a joint drive arrested a suspected member of banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) at Borial village in Haripur upazila of the district early yesterday.
The arrested person was identified as Saheb Chan, 18, son of Yousuf Ali, an inhabitant of Borial village.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team comprising members of Rapid Action Battalion, Armed Police Battalion and Detective Branch of Police, conducted a raid at Borial village and arrested Saheb Chan from his house early yesterday. Police also recovered one pistol, three rounds of bullets and two sharp weapons from his room.
Saheb Chan claimed to be a member of JMB, police said.
Police Superintendent of Thakurgaon Farhad Ahmed confirmed it.
A case was filed with Haripur Police Station in this connection.
