RAJSHAHI: More than 1,077 rural women are now playing role as social watchdog eradicating child marriage, gender disparity and violence against women and children after attaining self-dignity and confidence through intensive training.
They formed enlightened women development network to encourage other women including the public representatives for mutual support so that they can discharge their social responsibilities effectively.
Aiming to empower the rural women socially and politically through their participation in community works, the women, who were selected from different districts under Rajshahi division, were imparted foundation training. During the three-day animator training on formation and proper functioning of enlightened women development network, they devised ways and means on how to establish their rights in the society by involving themselves in social building process.
They were also inspired on how they will contribute to the society.
The Hunger Project Bangladesh (THPB) organised the training which included several individual and group presentations on social issues through which participants demonstrated their creativity and communication skills.
Talking to BSS, the women receiving training narrated how they were inspired in resolving their own problems through collective efforts, initiatives, capacities, abilities, potentialities and properly utilising the resources available in their localities.
