NARSINGDI: A court yesterday sentenced five persons to death for killing a schoolboy here in 2013, reports BSS.
The court also fined them Taka one lakh each.
Judge of Women and Child Repression Prevention Court Shamim Ahmed pronounced the verdict.
The convicts are Shajib Khan, 22, son of Yasin Khan, Shakil Miah,18, son of Khorshed Alam, Emran Miah, 20, son of Hajrat Ali (fugitive), Shamim Osman, 19, son of Aftab Uddin Bhuiyan and Rubel Miah, 18, son of Rohul Amin. All are the inhabitants of Baderpur village under Narsingdi Sadar upazila.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that the convicts abducted schoolboy Hasibul Hasan Ayon, 6, and student of class one of Brahamandi Government Boys School on May 26, 2013 while he was playing in front of their rented house at Valanagor of the upazila.
Next day the kidnaper through a mobile phone demanded Taka two lakh from his parents as ransom.
Ayon’s father Shorab Hossain filed a case with Narsingdi Model Thana in this regard.
Police arrested Shojib Khan and Rubal Miah and on their confession police also recovered the body of Ayon from Ghorashal Railway Bridge area on May 29.
Later police arrested Shakil Miah and Shamim Osman and recorded the name of Emran Miah. Police after investigation submitted charge-sheet to the court against the five.
The judge examining 14 witnesses and relevant evidences announced the judgment.
