Man to die for killing wife in Rangpur

RANGPUR: A court in Rangpur has sentenced a husband to death for murdering his wife in New Jummapara Sweeper Colony of the city some three years back, reports BSS.
Additional District and Sessions Judge of Court-2 of Rangpur Abu Jafar Mohammad Kamruzzaman handed down the verdict yesterday afternoon.
The convicted person is Joy Baskor, 28, son of Shuvro Roy Harijan of the same colony.
According to prosecution, Joy Baskor strangled his wife Chandni Roy, 22, to death in the morning on September 19 in 2013 following a family feud.
Tara Rani, mother of the victim, filed a murder case against the killer husband of her daughter with Kotwali Thana in this connection on the same day.
After examining witnesses and evidences of the case during hearing, the learned court found accused Joy Baskor guilty beyond any doubt and announced the verdict against him this afternoon.
Additional Public Prosecutor of Rangpur Advocate Faruk Md Rezaul Karim stood for the state while senior lawyer Advocate Md Sabuktagin defended the accused side.
