The World Hepatitis Day will be observed today in Bangladesh and elsewhere in the world for raising awareness against the deadly virus, reports BSS.
Ascertained by the WHO, the day is observed every year on 28th July since 2010 to raise awareness on different forms of hepatitis and various methods of prevention and treatment. This year the theme of the day is “Elimination. “
President M. Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in separate messages, appreciated the observance of the day in Bangladesh.
They said that the theme of World Hepatitis Day this year is time-befitting and wished success of all programmes marking the day.
In his message, President M Abdul Hamid said the number of liver patients is increasing in Bangladesh for lack of knowledge about prevention.
Liver is an important organ of human body, he said and called upon all concerned to encourage the people about the prevention of liver diseases
