DB (Detective Branch) of police on Tuesday night detained three alleged members of banned militant outfit Hizb ut- Tahrir Bangladesh from city’s Kazir Deuri area and recovered a number of leaflets and `jihadi’ books from their procession.
The arrestees were identified as Md Ismail, 26, son of Abdul Kayum of Khatiber Hat area, a former student of International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC), Nazmul Huda,25, son of Md Saiful Islam of Gulbag Residential Area, MBA of BGC Trust University and Md Amiruzzaman Parvez, 36, son of late Md Yasin of Mohammadpur area in the city.
Acting on tip off, a team of DB of Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) detained the trio near from MA Aziz Stadium area of Kazir Dewari under Kotwali Police around 8:00 pm, said Humayun Kabir, additional deputy commissioner of the DB. `The detainees were trying to carry out publicity as a part of their organistional activities at the area on secret. Some organisational leaflets were recovered from their possessions and later 10 `jihadi’ books were found after searching the detainees’ residence, ‘added Humayun Kabir.
