A night guard was killed and four others were injured as a group of assailants carried out an attack on them at Amulia in the capital’s Khilgaon early Wednesday, reports UNB.
The deceased was identified as BMA Sattar, son of late Akkel Ali, a resident of Chandpur Sadar upazila. He was a night guard of Amin Group and used to live in a rented house at Khilgaon.
Sub-inspector Bacchu Miah of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) police camp said a group of extortionists led by one Ata Member of the area had demanded Tk20 lakh from Amin Group as toll.
As Amin Group refused to give them the money, around 20-25 people carried out an attack at a project site of the organisation at Amulia in Khilgaon around 1:30am.
The assailants hacked the five night guards of the project site with sharp weapons, leaving them injured.
Later, the injured were whisked off to DMCH where Sattar succumbed to his injuries around 7:30am.
