Chhatak Cement Factory suspends production

UNB

Production at Chhatak Cement Factory has remained suspended for the last two weeks due to power failure, forcing the authorities to count Tk 1 crore loss, reports UNB from Sylhet.
Factory sources said production at the cement factory came to a halt as a transformer went out of order on June 10, disrupting power supply.
The water supply in the staff quarters of the factory was also suspended due to the power outage, causing immense sufferings to the dwellers and staff of the factory during the month of Ramadan.
Besides, the factory also faces Tk 1 crore loss due to disruption of the production for the last two weeks.
However, the general workers and employees of the factory besieged the factory office for an hour on Thursday, demanding uninterrupted power supply.
They also threatened to go for a movement if the authorities do not take any effective steps to restore power supply and start production at the factory immediately.
