Stone import through Tamabil land port which remained suspended for two months resumed on Thursday, reports UNB from Sylhet. A stone-laden truck entered the land port from Inida on Thursday noon, customs authority of the land port said. Revenue officer of Tamabil customs station Mostaq Ahmed Nomani said 30 stone-laden trucks entered the country through the land station till Thursday evening.
“I hope from now stone import through the land port will continue as usual,” he said.
Customs authority sources said the stone import remained suspended as Indian traders could not export stone due to some legal complexities in India.
Local stone importers incurred huge loss in the last two months due to suspension of stone import and the government suffered revenue loss of Tk 6 crore during
this period.
