Journalist Balu�s 11th death anniversary today

The 11th death anniversary of eminent journalist Humayun Kabir Balu is scheduled to be observed today, reports BSS. Different socio-cultural organizations and political parties have chalked out programmes to mark the day.
Khulna Press Club will arrange a discussion meeting, doa mahfil and place wreaths at the journalists monument at Khulna Press Club premises. Khulna Working Journalists Unity (KWJU) will bring out a mourning procession in the city, place wreaths at the journalists monument and arrange a discussion at Khulna Press Club. Khulna City Awami League and its front organizations will place wreaths at the journalists monument. Journalists Humayun Kabir Balu Smrity Parisad, Ayub Hossain Smrity Parisad, Rafiquzzaman Smrity Parisad and members of Dainik Janmobhumi and Rajpather Dabi will also arrange similar programmes marking the day. All the six accused of Balu murder case were acquitted on February 13 in 2008. The judge of the speedy trial tribunal acquitted them saying that the charge sheet was flawed and lacked necessary evidence. Investigation into the explosive part of the case of Balu murder would not complete in last 11 years though investigation Officer (IO) was changed several times. Balu, a former President of Khulna press Club and Editor of Dainik Janmobhumi was bombed to death on June 27 in 20004 in front of his office-cum-residence at Islampur Road area in the city. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2009 for his contribution in journalism and for playing glorious role in the Liberation War.
