Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Nayek Abdur Razzak, who was freed on Thursday after eight days of his abduction by Myanmar border guard, is being brought to Dhaka from Cox’s Bazar for treatment, reports UNB. He will be given treatment at BGB Pilkhana Headquarters Hospital, said Commanding officer of BGB Battalion-42 Abu Jar Al Zahid. He said Razzak was sent to BGB Pilkhana Headquarters Hospital for treatment as he felt unwell. The BGB man started for Dhaka from Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar around 10:30am, he said. However, Razzak was yet to arrive at the capital till filing of this report at 7:30pm, said senior information officer at BGB headquarters Mohsin Reza. Border Guard Police (BGP) handed Nayek Razzak along with his personal arms and ammunition over to the BGB on Thursday afternoon following a flag meeting held at Maungdaw of Myanmar. On June 17, when a team of seven BGB personnel was patrolling Jadimura canal area near Domdomia Border Outpost of Teknaf early in the morning, BGP soldiers suddenly appeared with a boat and started firing on one of the BGB patrol boats, injuring sepoy Biplob. When another BGB patrol boat reached the spot, the Myanmar border force disappeared from the scene taking away Nayek Razzak along with his SMG loaded with bullets. Immediately, the BGB contacted high officials of Myanmar BGP as well as the Myanmar Police headquarters and asked for immediate return of Nayek Razzak. On June 23, BGP sent a letter to the commanding officer of BGB Battalion-42 Abu Jar calling for a flag meeting over the handover of the BGB man.
