The Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has made an announcement to stage a countrywide peaceful demonstration tomorrow (Tuesday) to protest against terrorist and militant attacks in the country. In a press statement yesterday, Shafiqur Rahman, acting secretary general of the organization announced the programme of the party. He urged the people to cooperate with the party to make it a success. “The country’s people now have no security of their lives and properties. On one hand, militant and terrorist attacks are being launched and, on the other, the government is trying to divide the nation by accusing the opposition parties for the attacks at a time when a national unity is an imperative to fight militancy,” said the Jamaat acting secretary general. “Under the circumstances, we urge all to forget the political division and raise our voice against all sort of terrorist and militant activities. The peaceful demonstration on Tuesday will be our testament for that,” he said.
