Brahmanbaria: A mobile court in a drive fined three fishermen Tk1,500 each at a market in Ananda Bazar area on Saturday for catching fish fry (less than 23cm in length), reports UNB.
On the occasion of National Fisheries Week-2016, the mobile court led by executive magistrate Sohel Rana launched the drive and detained the trio from a market. The court fined them Tk1,500 each for catching young fish.
The three fishermen were later released.
Meanwhile, another mobile court seized 70,000 metres of current net from the same market adjacent to the Tintash river in sadar upazila. The seized fishing nets, worth Tk5 lakh, were later destroyed in Bhadhughar Bazar area.
