It will be an all Abahani clash when the host Chittagong Abahani Limited will take on Dhaka Abahani Limited in their respective opening match of the JB Bangladesh Premier Football League (BPFL) today at the MA Aziz Stadium.
Mamunul, the boy of Port City and very popular in his home town, looked to be very hopeful about making a winning start defeating one of the title contenders Abahani Limited, as he expressed his optimistic and belief yesterday.
Mamunul, when talking to this correspondent before going for practice session said that they also want to make winning record with the support of partial hoe crowd.
Mamunul said, “We are ready to take the challenge of Dhaka Abahani Limited. They are very strong side and also one of the top sides among the title contenders. This is a very vital match for us. If we can show our talents then fans will come and we are committed to change the impression of the fans that the popularity of football doesn’t decay.”
“In the past, Chittagong Abahani had the record to win against the Abahani (Dhaka) and that was a clash between the underdogs and the title contenders or title holders, but this time Chittagong Abahani is fully different sides, as they are also one of the strong contenders for the championship.”
“I think our preparation is good enough, in which way we took preparation, if can make our presentation properly there would be no reason not to win the match. You know we could not keep up the momentum of our victory in the season’s opener in the Federation Cup, which I think is a big lesson.
“To recover the damage, we worked hard and belief that we will get the result of our hard working.” Mamunul is a bit disappointed with the condition of the ground, as he said, “Actually a good ground is a first condition to play a good football but I think the ground should be more upgraded, it can never be happened that a cricket pitch exists in the football ground.”
Sattiyajit Das Rupu, manager of the Abahani Limited of Dhaka said that his team have every chance to win the match when the former Abahani booter thinks that his sides are still favourites against Chittagong Abahani.
Rupu said, “Abahani always formed team to be champions and always play to win every match, so winning start would be big inspiration for the boys and they will do it.”
