All-rounder Mahmudullah Ryad said that they are raring to play the upcoming bilateral series against England at home turf in October.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) meanwhile announced the schedule and itinerary of the series on the consent of the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
As per the schedule, the visiting side is slated to arrive in Dhaka on September 30 to play three one day internationals alongside two-match Test series. All the matches is scheduled to take place at two different host cities across the country.
The teams will also play a string of warm-up matches including one-dayer and two-dayers before the start of the ODI and Test series.
“Yes, we are desperate to play the series (against England). Hopefully the series will be held in a proper way,” said Mahmudullah Ryad.
“All the players work hard for the series. All we are ready for playing the series. Players are preparing themselves for the games,” Ryad told reporters yesterday after their training session at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) ground.
Bangladesh have been starting their training camp since July 20 under the supervision of the local coaches centering homes series against English side as only two months left for the series. They will start their main practice with bat and ball in the next month under the guideline of the foreign coaching staffs, who are now in vacation, will join with the team at the fag’s end of the July.
The 30-year-old said that they have discussed amongst themselves prior to the onset of the camp what they will do in their training camp to make it more effective.
“Before the start of the camp the discussion amongst us has been held that we will inform to all what we have been practicing since the last two and half-a-year or three years and what type of change in our attitude has been done,” Mymensingh-born batsman told.
“We are committed to work hard. We don’t see any alternative to it. At this moment, we- the young and senior players- are working together. Hopefully we all will do a good fitness camp.”
The spin all-rounder said that they will try to make use of the chance of the long training so that they can be benefited from it in their next series.
“That’s a break but we think how the players are taking the matter. In the meantime, we have played Premier League. We all performed well in the league whether it is bowling or batting department. All the national team’s players showed their good performance. Now it’s up to Cricket Board as we have a series ahead,” he thinks.
“Actually we will play so many series ahead. It is imperative for us to be prepared for those series. In our fitness camp, we have got some 21-25 more days. We will try our best to capitalize these times for our next works,” Mahmudullah added.
Ryad played 27 Tests, 126 ODIs and 53 T20Is for Bangladesh so far. He struck two centuries in one day but one in Test.
When asked him to have hit century in Test, Mahmudullah said that he don’t disclose what type of desire he has set in the forthcoming series against England.
“I have such type of dream (to strike century in Test). But we are now working only on our fitness. Therefore, the skill camp will be started. We want to move forward step by step,” he said, adding “I have individual goal but I don’t reveal it at this moment.”
