Inter-school debate tournament ends
A national-level 3-day long Inter School Debate Tournament titled `IUB Ascension 2016 concluded on Saturday July 23 on the Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) campus in Bashundhara, Dhaka, says a press release.
The university organised this tournament to encourage the young students to be more pragmatic, insightful and exposed to the real-world which will eventually enable them taking leaderships in future. 60 teams from 28 different English and Bengali medium schools from and outside of Dhaka participated in this national level inter school debate tournament.
Academia School of Dhaka clinched the championship trophy of this tournament while Viqarunnisa Noon School and College, Dhaka became the runner-up.
In the closing and award giving ceremony, being the chief guest, A Matin Chowdhury, Chairman, Education, Science, Technology and Cultural Development Trust ( the Founding Trust of IUB), Trustees of the University and Vice-chancellor Prof M Omar Rahman distributed trophies and prize money to the champion and runner-up teams. All debaters of participating schools also received certificates from the guests. Members of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) Debate Club received special awards as recognition of their splendid contribution for making the tournament a grand success. Towhid Bin Muzaffar, Head, Department of English, IUB, delivered the formal vote of thanks.
