A Chittagong court yesterday sentenced a man to life term rigorous imprisonment for killing a timber businessman at Fatikchhari of Chittagong in 1996.
In the same verdict the court awarded other one to 10 years imprisonment and acquitted to two more.
Munsi Abdul Aziz third additional District and session Judge handed down the verdict.
The life-term sentenced convict was identified as Ramjan Ali, 10 years imprisonment awarded convict was Nailla alias Dailla and the court acquitted two more businessmen Mohammad Younus and Nur-e-Alam.
“As the allegations were proved against them, the court awarded life term imprisonment to Ramjan Ali, 10-years imprisonment to Nailla for killing the timber businessman and acquitted Mohammad Younus and Nur-e-Alam. The court also fined Tk1 lakh to Ramjan Ali. If he failed to pay the fine he has stay in jail five years more,” said Advocate BK Biswas, additional public prosecutor of the court.
