Victim Rumpa gives statement in court

Rajshahi court on Sunday noon recorded statement of Rihah Tasfia Salam Rumpa, who was tortured by her husband in their house at the city’s Dingadoba area two weeks ago over demand for dowry.
The Metropolitan Magistrate Court-1 magistrate Mokseda Asgar recorded the statement of the tortured victim who told the court that her husband made her suffer multiple fractures all over her body.
She also said court that his parents and two brothers present during the torture aided him, said the victim’s lawyers Jotiul Islam Shafi.
Rumpa, who was still undergoing treatment at the One Stop Crisis Centre of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) was taken to the court by a stature at 12:30pm. She was returned to the hospital at 2:00pm after recording her statement.
Tasfia’s husband Samiul Haque Soad beaten up Tasfia with a metal pipe at his house on July 11 leaving her bones of hands, legs, ribs and head fractured.
Police arrested Soad after the Tasfia’s mother Hosne Ara filed a case against five persons for attempting to murder her daughter over dowry. Tasfia’s family gave Tk. 1.50 lakh in dowry and Soad’s family was demanding more, claimed Rumpa’s mother.
Meanwhile, police arrested Soad after one day of the incident and he is in the jail.
However; parents of Soad, they are also the accused in the case have got bail already, Ifte Khayer Alam, assistant commissioner of Rajpara police station said.
