A Bangladeshi cattle trader was shot dead by the Indian Border Security Force along the Putkhali border under Benapole Port Police Station in Jessore early yesterday. The deceased was identified as Shahidul Islam, 32, of Putkhali village, said Lieutenant Colonel Arifur Rahman, commanding officer of 23 Border Guard Battalion. The BGB told newsmen that The cattle trader died on the spot as the BSF men of Angrail camp on the Indian side opened fire at a number of cattle traders while they were heading home after buying cattle on Saturday dawn. Later, the BSF threw the body to the Ichhamati River. After recovering the body, Benapole Port Police Station sent the body to Jessore General Hospital for autopsy.
