KERANIGANJ: A mobile court comprising police and an official of the concerned department demolished 10 big and small illegal structures in Ramarkanda area in Keraniganj upazila under Dhaka district on Friday, reports BSS. The court, led by executive magistrate of Keraniganj and assistant commissioner of land Shamim Banu Shanti, conducted the demolition along a canal connecting the Singha River where the illegal structures were erected.
Court sources said, during the drive, the court knocked down 10 big and small buildings including shopping malls, a portion of Ispahani University and College building, Sharif Mansion, a four storey building and Agragami Tanti Samity Bhavan.
All structures, including shops and residential buildings, were erected by filling parts of the Singha River hampering normal flow of water in the area.
A fleet of bulldozers and escalators joined the demolition drive, the sources said.
