Ghost of Jamaat launched Gulshan attack: Law minister

Staff Reporter

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Haque yesterday alleged that the ghost of Jamaat-e-Islami launched the terror attack in Gulshan to unsteady the country. The law minister said, “There is no existence of IS militant in Bangladesh. None but the ghosts of Jamaat-e-Islami launched the terror attack in Gulshan Holey Artisan Bakery only to deter the ongoing development trend of the country.” He added that the attack was only to create an unstable situation across the country but none would be able to do any harm to Bangladesh and its people if everybody remains united under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
About forging national unity against the militancy and terrorism, Anisul Haque said there would not be any unity with the forces who patronized the militants and terrorists for their narrow political interest.
The law minister made the observation while addressing at a function held at the Supreme Court auditorium.
The new executive committee of Bangladesh Lawyers Aides (mohuri) organised the programme at Shaheed Shaifur Rahman Auditorium in the Supreme Court.
He urged lawyers’ aides not to submit any vakalatnama (letter of authority) for bail petition of the militants outfits.
“Put bar in moving bail petition for militants to gear up a social resistance against militancy,” he told lawyers’ aides.
The quarter involved in the heinous terror acts will be tried as per the law, he said, “Build strong resistance against the militants staying in your respective positions.”
The minister said hundred to one hundred fifty people, who were trying to destabilize the country, were not any factor comparing with the number of 16 crore people of the country. “If we all unite, they will not harm anything,” he said.
Pointing his finger to the BNP, the law minister said it is not possible to make national unity with those who were staying with the terrorist party like Jamaat.
Those who were interested to make national unity to combat terrorism, they must leave the terrorist party. The national unity would be done under the leadership of Sheikh Hasina to combat against terrorism, he noted.
Food Minister Advocate Quamrul Islam said the defeated forces of 1971 with the help of international conspirators are unleashing terror and militant attacks across the country.
“The fanatics and militant forces are trying to destroy the country in many ways and prove Bangladesh as a failed sate like Pakistan, Afghanistan and Syria,” he added.
Supreme Court Bar Council President Yusuf Hossain Humayun, Advocate Nurul Islam Sujon, former SCBA secretary SM Rezaul Karim, Advocate SM Rejaul Karim, Advocate ZI Khan Panna, Executive President All-India Law Clerks Federation Ashok Kumar Mandal, among others, spoke on the occasion.
Lawyers Aides Samity President Mohammad Noor Mia presided over the function.
