AFP, TOKYO: Kawasaki Frontale beat FC Tokyo 1-0 in the J-League first division on Saturday, after striker Yu Kobayashi headed a goal in the second half.
The win left Kawasaki unbeaten in the second stage, leaving the first-stage winners Kashima Antlers behind in the overall standings.
Antlers’ mid-fielder Shoma Doi opened the scoring at their home game, but the first-stage champions soon allowed Urawa Red’s former Southampton striker Tadanari Lee to grab two goals, giving the Reds a 1-2 win. Reds, Yokohama F-Marinos and Sagan Tosu are unbeaten after five games in the second stage.
Yokohama F-Marinos ended the game in a 1-1 draw against Jubilo Iwata, after Iwata’s Hayao Kawabe nabbed an equaliser midway through the second half.
