Sharmin wins crown of ‘Banglar Gaan’

Sharmin from Mymensingh won the crown of ‘Aarong Dairy Channel i Banglar Gaan’—a reality show of folk music considered to be the first of its kind in the country. Mohammad Khairul Islam (Faridpur) became first runner-up, while Ananya Yasmin Ankan (Chapainawabganj) and Al-Amin Ali (Rajshahi) jointly secured the place of 2nd runner up in the first edition of the reality show. The grand finale of ‘Aarong Dairy Channel i Banglar Gaan’ was held Friday at the Shaheed Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur area.
The winner of the title was awarded with BDT 10,00,000, while the first runner up received BDT 5,00,000 and the second runner up BDT 3,00,000. Besides, they will enjoy a Helicopter ride courtesy by Impress Aviation Limited and opportunity of releasing CD, DVD and playback under the banner of Impress Telefilm.
Besides, Ilma Binte Bakhteyar (Chittagong) received BDT 1 lakh for ‘Swarnali Kantho’, while Md Billal Hossain and Md Nazmul Hasan from Faridpur received BDT 1 lakh for ‘Alokito Taroka’ and ‘Ujjal Taroka’ respectively by courtesy of Universal Food Limited.
BRAC founder and chairperson Sir Fazle Hasan Abed, managing director of Channel-i Faridur Reza Sagor, Channel i director and head of news Shykh Seraj, director Mukit Majumdar Babu, BRAC Dairy and Food Enterprise director Toufiqur Rahman, managing director of Universal Foods Ltd Sohani Hossain, along with two judges of the show, veteran singers Rezwana Choudhury Bannya and Ayub Bacchu, folk singer Momtaz and internationally-acclaimed singer Runa Laila handed over the prizes to the winners. The guests also unveiled the cover of a CD, which is sung by top seven contestants and judges of the reality show under the banner of Impress Audio Vision.
The grand finale programme started with the chorus rendition by 20 women artistes with the song ‘Keno Piriti Baraila’. Then, twelve baul singer presented sufi songs. After that, the top seven finalists-- Ananya Yasmin Ankan, Md Khairul Islam, Sharmin, Ilma Binte Bakhteyar, Md Nazmul Hasan, Al Amin Ali and Md Billal Hossain appeared with a dazzling rendition ‘Ei Je Dunia, Kiser O Lagiya’ directed by Ibrar Tipu.
Moreover, Folk singer Momtaz performed a song of Hason Raja titled ‘Sona Bondhe Amare’. On the other hand, Al-Amin rendered ‘Amar Murshid Charan’, Ilma presented ‘Doyal Baba Kebla Kaba’, Sharmin ‘Boro Biswas Koira’, Nazmul ‘Bhalobese Pran’ and Billal rendered ‘Koto Dine Koto Betha’. A number of 20 dance artistes along with ten ‘Khude Gaan Raj’ artistes and six dhuli performed group dance with the song of melody queen Runa Laila.
