Mominul keeps Tigers ahead of England

Top-order batsman Mominul Haque keeps Bangladesh ahead of England at home condition, stating that they can expect positive result from the upcoming bilateral home series against English side.
“We are very good side in our home condition. We can expect positive result if England come to play with us in this condition,” said Mominul Haque.
“Now we have Mustafiz (ur Rahman) and Shakib (Al Hasan) bhai in the squad. It would also be better for us if we would have a leg-spinner,” Haque told reporters after the training session at the lounge of the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
“We are not so good side in Test likes of one day cricket. For this we, of course, need some more times,” he added.
Mominul, who is considered as the most consistent performer of Bangladesh in Test, said that the long gap will not restrain him from performing better for the team as he has been in the ambience of the domestic longer version for a long time.
“The series is very much expected for me as I have not played Test for a long time. But I think it will not be a problem for me as I meanwhile played in BCL and National Cricket League,” the left-handed batsman said.
“I was in touch in four-dayer games like Test. Others were not in touch. In that sense, I will be ahead of others,” also said Mominul, who is known by his nickname “Saurav”.
“I got chance to play three-four games in a year. I don’t know what the exact expectation of the people. But I know my own expectation because how many matches in Test I will get in a year. And so, I will try to give my all-out effort for performing.”
Citing the last Pakistan series after the World Cup Down Under, Cox’s Bazar-born lad said that his performance in that series was lauded by all at that time.
“I struck two fifties against Pakistan returning to cricket after a long gap of time. Likes of Tamim and Shakib bhai, many told that the way I played and scored after a long time was really difficult,” the diminutive batsman, who played 17 Tests with an average of 56.00 - the highest amongst Bangladeshi batsmen, told.
“I will be dropped from the team if I don’t perform whether it is one year or ten years. We play less number of Test matches than other nations. So, we have to perform well after returning to Test. I have to perform to cement my position in Test squad.”
The 24-year-old batsman said that he wants to return to one day and Twenty20 after cementing his position in Test.
“I don’t think much over other format of games. The way I am being considered as a Test player I have to perform well in Test. And then I have to look to break into the one day squad and T20 cricket,” Mominul thinks.
“Actually I have to think over other formats after building a strong position in Test. I think if I can perform well in Test,  the coach and selectors will then think about me for one day and T20,” Haque, who also played 26 ODIs and six T20Is for Bangladesh so far, said.
When asked about Mustafizur Rahman, who impressed all with his magic spell of 4-23 on his County debut for Sussex Sharks, said, “It feels better to think that Mustafiz stunned all by his performance after Shakib bhai. I think he is a different level player. It seems to be better to me and boost my confidence level. I dream to do like them.”
