Six workers of a readymade garment factory sustained burn injuries when a fire broke out at the factory in Kamrangirchar of the capital early yesterday.
Injured victims were identified as Shakil, 18, Monir, 19, Ashique, Nazmul, 19, Sumon, 18, 14, and Sajib Hasan, 14.
They were rushed to the Burn and Plastic Surgery unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Najma Akter, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense Headquarters said, the fire was brought under control before we reached the spot. Primarily we are suspecting that the fire originated from the electric short-circuit around 4am when the workers were sleeping inside the factory.
BSS adds: The injured Nazmul, with 52 per cent burn injuries, Suman, Shakil, with 72 per cent, Monir Hossain 48 per cent, Ashiq, with 20 per cent and Md Ahshan, with 63 Per cent were rushed to Burn and Plastic Surgery Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
