Minor girl killed ‘by stepmother’ in Bogra

Bogra: A minor girl was strangulated to death allegedly by her ‘stepmother’ at Saradhankuthi village in Gabtoli upazila on Wednesday, reports UNB. Locals said Mahfuza Khatun, 10, daughter of Abdul Awal, a garment worker, used to live with her stepmother at the village while her father and mother lived in Dhaka for job purpose. On Tuesday night, Rehena Khatun, second wife of Abdul Awal, took Mahfuza to the district town saying the condition of Mahfuza, who was sick, was not well and she needed emergency treatment. Later Rehena killed the girl in the dead of night and told people that Mahfuza died of sickness in the morning. On information, police recovered the body and arrested Rehena. After primary interrogation, Rehena said she gave a tablet to Mahfuza on way to returning home from the town on Tuesday night and when Mahfuza fell sick she strangled her.
