Taskin won’t compromise with pace

Fast bowler Taskin Ahmed is determined to return to the international cricket with the home series against England, keeping his pace undiminished.
With an aim to appear in the bowling test further before the home series, the 20-year old pacer who was suspended from bowling by the ICC has been working intensely to get the things right.
“I have been working hard under the specialised coach since the head coach isn’t here. They have sent the video footage of my bowling action to the coach regularly. Hope I’ll be back in international cricket before the home series against England,” Taskin said.
Local coach Mahbub Ali Zaki assisted Taskin in correcting his bowling action. Head coach Chandika Hathurusingha would re-assess his progress after he joins the national camp. When the BCB will send him for re-assessment will depend on what the coach said.
However at the moment the programme has been designed keeping in mind that his main strength, which is his high pace, should not be slowed down.
“Pace is my main strength. I don’t want to compromise with it,” Taskin revealed. “I have no major problem and the coaches are also satisfied with my progress. I also have made five sessions during the premier league. I think the premier league is helpful for me because the practice and match practice are completely different phenomenon. There was no problem in my bowling during the premier league, according to the coaches. So I am hopeful of getting back to the international cricket at any cost before the England series.”
Taskin was reported as having a suspected illegal bowling action by the match officials in Bangladesh’s opening match of the ICC World Twenty20 India 2016 against the Netherlands in Dharmasala on 9 March.  He undertook an independent assessment at the ICC-accredited testing centre in Chennai on 15 March.
This independent assessment found that some of Taskin’s standard deliveries exceeded the permissible level of elbow extension and, as such, his bowling action was found to be illegal and he was suspended from bowling in international cricket with immediate effect.
Taskin exercised his right to request an expeditious review of his case by a Judicial Commissioner. The hearing was conducted  by Michael Beloff QC over a tele-conference call that lasted several hours and in which numerous legal challenges were made on behalf of the player.
Having carefully considered those arguments and the responses of the ICC, Mr Beloff has now notified all parties concerned of his decision that Taskin’s suspension from bowling in international cricket shall be upheld and indicated that a written reasoned decision will be provided in due course.
The suspension of Taskin was hard to swallow for the cricketers and people in Bangladesh. But he started working to correct his bowling action, specially his bouncers with high pace which were suspected.
“He is all about a pace-dependent bowler. Without pace, his bowling won’t work well. So we can’t compromise with that. We have to correct his action, keeping his pace undiminished,” said Mahbub Ali Zaki.
“His fastest bowling was 148 km. I want him to bowl 140 km pace regularly. And the session was designed such way that he could keep his pace intact.”
