A Barisal court on Wednesday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment for violating a schoolgirl in 2012.
Sheikh Abu Taher, judge of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, delivered the verdict after examining eight witnesses and other evidences. The court also fined the convict
Tk 50,000 in default to suffer two years more in jail.
The lone convict was Giasuddin Sardar, hailing from Mehendiganj upazila of Barisal, has remained absconding since the incident.
Ajibar Rahman, bench clerk of the court, said Giasuddin along with his family members went to visit his in-laws house on October 1, 2012 morning, leaving a schoolgirl and friend of his daughter for taking care of his house.
