Gala ceremony marks opening of premier football

A gala opening ceremony of the JB Bangladesh Premier League Football was held yesterday at the MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong. The journey of the top level domestic soccer competition will start from July 24 at the Port City.  
It is the first time that the Premier League Football is going to kick-off outside Dhaka and also an opening ceremony was organised for the first time since its first edition from 2006-07.
This time the league also going to take place with different formation in three different venues outside Dhaka while the first three rounds will be held at the MA Aziz Stadium, Chittagong from July 23 to August 03 and the other venues are the Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka, Mymensingh Stadium and Sylhet Stadium.
A total of 12 teams including the defending champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Abahani Limited, Mohammedan Sporting Club, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra, Chittagong Abahani Limited, Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra, Brothers Union, Team BJMC, Arambagh KS, Rahmatganj MFS, Feni Soccer Club and Uttar Baridhara Club.
The reigning champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club and newly promoted Arambagh Krira Sangha will play the first match. Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra will take on another babes Uttar Baridhara Club in the day’s second match.
However, the colorful opening ceremony started with the addressing of the guests followed by the players introduced in the stage.
President of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Kazi Mohammed Salahuddin, senior vice-president Abdus Salam Murshedi, AJM Nasir, Mayor of the Chittagong Corporation and Tarafdar Ruhul Amin, chairman of the JB Group, the title sponsor of the league, addressed in the occasion.
After the introductory formalities, famous singer Ayub Bachchu and Momtaz rendered their performance along with other local artists also performed to entertain the fans.
The opening ceremony was ended with fireworks of 500 units.
