Mustafizur Rahman, pace sensation of Bangladesh, expressed his firm determination before leaving Dhaka for England, stating that he wants to capitalise the opportunity of playing in England condition.
Mustafiz will play the remaining three matches of the NatWest T20 Blast coupled with the other four matches of the Royal London One-Day Cup for Sussex County Cricket Club.
“There will have many things for me to learn in England beside cricket. I want to capitalise the chance of it. I want to learn new more things in England,” said Mustafizur Rahman yesterday.
This will be the third foreign tours for Mustafiz after representing for Bangladesh in the international stage in 2015. The 20-year paceman toured to India first to play ICC World T20 for Bangladesh and then IPL for his second stint.
Rahman will make his county debut against Essex at County Ground, Chelmsford on July 21 (Thursday) if everything is okay. He is mentally prepared for such situation, said the pacer before departing for London.
“I don’t know they will field me to play or not. But I am fully mentally prepared for the games. And I’m going there being fully prepared,” Satkhira-born lad said.
“If I get chance I’ll try to give my utmost best for the team,” he added.
After Essex’s match, Mustafiz’s Sussex will take on Surrey at the Oval on July 22. The Sussex will face-off Glamorgan in the last match of the South group on July 28.
In Royal London One-Day Cup, Sussex will lock horns with Gloucestershire and Hampshire on July 24 and 27 respectively. And they will compete against Somerset on July 30 and Kent on August 2 in the one day cup.
Expressing the delight, Sussex earlier wrote their verified official fans page of the Facebook, “Sussex Cricket are delighted to announce Mustafizur Rahman is due to arrive in Hove tomorrow ahead of Sussex Sharks NatWest T20 Blast fixture against Essex Eagles at Chelmsford.”
“The Bangladeshi international will be available for the reminder of both the NatWest T20 Blast and the Royal London One-Day Cup competitions.”
On March 2, Sussex informed media that they have inked a contract with Mustafizur Rahman, whose schedule was to land in England in the first week of June but he returned from IPL with hamstring injury. And so, he didn’t go there in due time.
But Sussex, who was desperate to get Mustafiz, didn’t drop their hopes. They were keen to get him at least for some times. Finally they won their bid.
In the T20, Sussex are now in seventh place, out of nine, with 10 off 11-match road strings in the South Group. But they are at the bottom of the point table with two points off four matches in the South Group of the one day Cup.
