The parliamentary standing committee on Transport and Bridges Ministry yesterday asked all concerned to take necessary measures for ensuring safe and hassle free road journey of homebound passengers ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr, reports BSS. The 9th meeting of the body was held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its President Akabbar Hossain presiding over. Among others, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, Rezwan Ahmed Toufique, Nuruzzaman Ahmed, Nazmul Haque Prodhan, Md Monirul Islam and Lutfunnesa, were present at the meeting. The meeting also discussed about the overall progress of metro rail project and enhancement of BRTC (Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation) services. It recommended formation of a four-member sub-committee and prepare a report after paying visit to BRTC aimed at improving its services. A report on the metro rail project was placed before the meeting and was discussed in details. The body also suggested of taking required initiatives to complete long cherished project in a successful manner.
