Imams urged to remain alert about militancy

Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya urged imams of the country to remain ever alert about militancy.
Maya said this at a meeting on “The Role of Islam in resisting terrorism and militancy” at Chandpur stadium yesterday.
The minister warned the terrorists and said none will be spared but we have to be more alert. He called upon the imams to highlight the right teachings and ideals of Islam according to the holy Quran and Sunnah.
“We must be united to resist the militancy and terrorism across country”, he added.
Deputy Commissioner Abdus Sabur Mandal presided over the meeting. Dr M Shamsul Haque Bhuiyan MP, superintendent of police Shamsunnahar, president of Zila Awami League and Chandpur Municipality Mayor Nasiruddin Ahamed and general secretary Abu Nayeem Patwari were present at the function.
Speakers said Islam has no relation with any sort of militancy, violence and any other anarchic activities rather it is a religion of global peace and tranquility.
Imams and other Islamic scholars could play pivotal role in preventing militancy to make the nation free from its stigma, said they. About one thousand imams, ulemas, madrasah teachers from eight upazilas of the district attended the meeting.
