The Appellate Division of the Supreme Court yesterday fixed June 28 for delivering its order on an appeal filed by the government against a High Court order granting bail to BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir in three violence cases.
After concluding hearing on the government appeal, a four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha fixed the date.
Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Khandker Mahbub Hossain represented Mirza Fakhrul. BNP leader Barrister Maudud Ahmed and SCBA Secretary Mahbub Uddin Khokon accompanied him.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam argued for the state along with Additional Attorney General Momtaz Uddin Fakir.
Earlier on June 21, the HC bench of Justice Md Rezaul Haque and Justice Md Khasruzzaman granted bail to Fakhrul in three cases.
