Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid urged parents to increase watch on movements and attitudes of offspring to avoid their involvement with destructive activities, reports BSS.
“Alongside parents’ watch, teachers will also observe movements and attitudes of their students,” he told a function at Titumir Government College at Mohakhali in the capital, an official release said.
AKM Rahmutullah, MP, Vice Chancellor of National University (NU) Prof Dr Harun-or-Rashid and Chief Engineer of Education Engineering Department Dewan Md Hanjala, among others, addressed the function with Principal of the College Professor Abu Haider Ahmed Naser in the chair.
Nahid asked the authorities concerned including teachers to inquire into unauthorised absence of students for more than 10 days at a stretch.
Against the backdrop of recent terrorist attacks on the Holey Artisan Bakery at Gulshan in the capital and near the Sholakia Eidgah in Kishoreganj, the Education Ministry issued a notice about the unauthorised absence of students from the educational institutions on July 10.
According to the notice, educational institutions will identify the students who are found absent for more than 10 days without proper reason and school authorities must inform in writing to Upazila Education Officer on suspicious absence of students. Educational institutions under metropolitan cities have to inform the district education officer, it added.
