RAJSHAHI: Two more persons died after allegedly drinking excessive liquor in a village of Charghat upazila of the district yesterday, police and locals said.
They were rushed to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH) where the attending doctors declared them dead this morning. With this, the death toll rises to seven, reports BSS.
The deceased were identified as Jahangir Alam, 60, of Goursohapur village and Lalon, 45, of Kuthipara village in Rajshahi.
Earlier on Monday and Tuesday, five people including a woman died after allegedly drinking excessive liquor in Charghat upazila.
They were identified as Anil Shiri Rabi Das, 55, Johar Lal, 58, and Badhi Rani, 61, of Sweeper Colony in Bangladesh Police Academy, Helal Uddin, 53, of Muktarpur village and Mahatab Uddin, 48, of Porsohapur village under the upazila.
Informed by local people, police went to the colony yesterday afternoon and recovered the bodies, said Nibaran Chandra Barman, officer-in-charge of Charghat Police Station.
Nibaran Chandra Barman, officer-in-charge of Charghat Police Station, said some people drank liquor excessively in a house at Kuthipara village on Monday. Of them, two died on the same day, three on Tuesday.
He, however, said details of the incident could not be known immediately.
