A police constable was injured when muggers allegedly stabbed him in Noyabazar area of the city yesterday.
The police constable was Md Siddique, 42, wireless operator of Pahartali police station. He was admitted to the Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), said police.
Ranjit Kumar Barua, officer-in-charge (OC) of Phartali police station, said Siddique and his father-in-law withdrew Tk 2 lakh from a bank in Halishahar area around 1:30pm. When they reached at Noyabazar circle by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw, three muggers blocked their way by a rickshaw and tried to snatch the money.
