Customs intelligence yesterday seized a courier parcel in suspicion of bomb making materials during unloading of courier documents at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
The customs during the anti-terror drive ‘operation Irene’ searched the parcel when they find irregularities in document declaration and weight (2.5 gm) of it and found different circuits, boards, bridge and wires in disarray.
The C&F agent Toma trade could not give any satisfactory answer of it during the immediate interrogation, the customs intelligence sources said. After taking opinions of different agencies, the parcel was submitted to the customs warehouse in suspicion that such materials might be used for making bombs.
The parcel arrived at the freight unit of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport through SCS Express by the flight TG-321 on July 3. Attempts were taken to release the parcel by false declaration saying it was a document. And Tk 535.45 was given as customs duty for the document which was for a garment factory in Chittagong.
