A Chittagong court yesterday placed four suspected members of banned Islamic outfit Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) on five-day remand to for the third times in a case filed with Sitakund police station under arms act.
Chittagong metropolitan magistrate Hossain Mohammad Reza granted the five-day remand for each of the accused after police produced them before the court with a 10-day remand plea.
The four arrestees were Musa Ibne Humayar, 25, and Anwar Khurshed Alam, 31, hailing from Patiya Upazila, Mohammad Islam, 41, hailing from Sitakund Upazila of Chittagong and Shipon alias Faisal, 25, of Brahmanbaria district.
The court has granted police five-day to interrogate the suspected militants in a case filed under arms act after hearing a ten-day remand plea submitted by Investigation Officer of the case, said Md Moshiur Rahman, court inspector of Chittagong District police.
Earlier, the arrestees were quizzed for five-day in a case filed with Sitakund police station under Anti-terrorism Act in first phase and in the second phase police quizzed them for three-day in the Arms Act case, now police got permission to quiz more five-day in the case lodged under Arms Act, said police.
On July 11, 2016, police in a drive arrested them along with eight machetes; one laptop, six mobile phones and one tab.
The arrested Ansarullah team members were allegedly planning to carry out attacks in different industrial areas in Chittagong and on law-enforcers.
