Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra, the treble winners of the 2012-13 season, are eying to regain the title of the Bangladesh Premier League, as they made some changes including coach in the team during the mid-window transfer, to start the second-leg strongly.
Meanwhile, all the title contenders are ready to begin their campaign afresh when the second phase of the Manyavar Bangladesh Premier League will begin from Sunday.
The second leg of the league will start with huge excitement as the title aspirants are very closer to each others in the race. Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra, Mohammedan Sporting Club and Brothers Union are closely following the league leaders Sheikh Jamal.
Russel geared up to recover the first phase deficit in the second-leg while they were three points behind Sheikh Jamal who finished the first-leg with 23 points.
Russel, who actually put across their optimism in the pre-league press conference to regain the tile they lost to Sheikh Jamal last season, could mange the second position.
But the All Blues will begin the second phase afresh as they made huge changes in the team with reappointing their treble winning coach Maruful Haque after sacking their Montenegro coach Dragan Djukanovic.
Apart from coach, they also registered two foreign booters during the mid-window of the inter-club players’ transfer. Ikanga, a midfielder of Cameroon and Damir Idrich, striker from Serbia, have signed up to strengthen the forward line.
Iakanga almost a known face in Dhaka league, as the Cameroonian played here last season for BJMC, while Damir Idrich played for Bosnia and Herzegovina national Under-21 side and Serbian local premier league.
Saleh Zaman Selim, director incharge, sports of the Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra stated that their Montenegrin coach was responsible for their retreat, specially conceding two defeats to Jamal and Muktijoddha and dropping points to lowly side Farashganj after a 2-2 draw and 1-1 with Rahmatganj.
Coach Maruful Haque and manager Jewel Rana are also very hopeful to bounce back strongly to fight for the tile.
Both the manager and coach while talking to this correspondent yesterday said that they prepared well to fight for the title.
But Jewel Rana looked not happy with the newly recruited Serbian striker Damir Idrich but the former national captain said that they will fight with the weapon they have.
“I am hopeful that we will be able to recover the shortage and it is very much possible to make come back.”
