Public awareness for resisting terrorism, militancy stressed

RANGPUR: Comprehensive efforts of all concerned could create public awareness to launch a social movement involving the common people for resisting terrorism, militancy, secret killings and conspiracies against the country, reports BSS.
The views were expressed at an orientation meeting organised for the people from all walks in life by Pirganj upazila administration against terrorism and militancy at its auditorium in the upazila town here on Friday afternoon.
Prime Minister’s Assistant Private Secretary (APS)-1 Jahangir Alam Bulbul attended the meeting as the chief guest with Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer SM Mazharul Islam in the chair.
Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar and Additional Police Super Abdullah Al Faruk were present as special guests.
Assistant Superintendent of Police for Circle-B Saifur Rahman Saif, General Secretary of Pirganj upazila Awami League Tazimul Islam Shamim, upazila Vice-chairman Monayem Sarker Manu, Khatibs, Imams and Heads of different madrasas also spoke.
The speakers strongly condemned the recent terrorist attacks and killings of innocent people at Gulshan and Sholakia, militancy, fundamentalist extremism, secret and targeted killings and in the country.
They laid special emphasis on forming ‘Para’ and ‘Moholla’ based committees involving the common people for resisting militancy, terrorism and secret killings to establish permanent peace in the society.
Terming those, who are involved with terrorist and militant activities, secret and targeted killings as the enemies of Islam, they stressed on engaging united efforts of all concerned for resisting the evil forces involved with such heinous activities.
In his speech, the chief guest said Islam has no relation with those militants who conducted the recent terrorist attacks and killed innocent people in medieval style at different places in the country.
“Islam is the religion of peace and it never supports terrorism, militancy and killing of innocent people,” he said and urged the Khatibs and Imams for preaching real meaning of Islam among the common people.
