Ten people were killed in separate road accidents in Manikganj, Rangpur, Bogra and Kishoreganj in past two days. Our Manikganj correspondent reports: Three people were killed and 15 others injured in two separate road accidents on Dhaka-Aricha highway yesterday morning. Police said two motorcyclists were killed as a Dhaka bound bus of ‘Purbasha Paribahan’ knocked down their motorcycle at Tepra in Shivalaya upazila at around 8:00 am.
The deceased were identified as Alamgir Hossain, 28, of Utholy village and his brother-in-law-Razibul Hasan, 25, of Mohadevpur village of Shivalaya upazila. Another accident took place at around 6:00 am when a Dhaka bound bus of ‘NNB Paribahan’ plunged into a roadside ditch at Muljan in Sadar upazila as its driver lost control over the steering, leaving Akash Hossain, 17, of Utholy village of Shivalaya upazila, dead on the spot and 15 other passengers injured. The injured were taken to Manikganj Sadar Hospital. In-charge of Borongail highway police Yamin-Ud-Dowla said one of the injured was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated.
Our Rangpur correspondent says: Three persons were killed and 15 others injured in separate road accidents on Rangpur-Dhaka highway at Kolabari and Routpara area in Pirganj upazila yesterday morning. Borodarga Police camp in-charge Shahidul Islam said the accident occurred at Kolabari area when a Burinmari bound bus of ‘Ahasan Paribahan’ from Dhaka collided with a truck, leaving two persons dead on the spot and eight other passengers injured.
The deceased were identified as Afazuddin, of Satkhira district and Morzina Begum of Bhurungmari upazila in Kurigram district.
In Routpara, a truck driver was killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a bus.
The driver was identified as Manik Mia. Seven others injured were admitted at Pirganj Health Complex and Rangpur Medical College Hospital.
Our Bogra correspondent adds: Three people, including a woman and a child, were killed as a bus crashed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Sabgram in Sadar upazila on Friday night.
The deceased were identified as Ziaur Rahman, 25, auto-rickshaw driver, Reshma Khatun, 35, and 10-years-old Atik.
Quoting witnesses, Aslam Ali, officer-in-charge of sadar police station, said the accident took place around 8.30 pm when the Gaibandha-bound bus hit the three-wheeler from the opposite direction on the bypass road-2 in the area, leaving three auto-rickshaw passengers dead on the spot.
On information, a fire brigade team recovered the bodies and sent those to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital morgue, he said.
In Kishoreganj, a schoolgirl was killed as a rashly-driven truck ran over her at Sukhia on the Dhaka-Kishoreganj highway in Pakundia upazila on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Setu, 11, class V student of Porabaria Government Primary School and daughter of Selim Miah, a resident of Porabaria village of the upazila.
Police said a speeding truck ran over the girl in the area in the evening while she was crossing the road, leaving her dead on the spot.
