Chittagong Abahani, Mohammedan Sporting Club, Team BJMC and Soccer Club Feni- all four teams set their target to improve their respective position when they put across their optimism for the upcoming JB Bangladesh Premier Football League yesterday.
Chittagong Abahani, who narrowly escaped from the relegation in the last season, formed the team with the national players eyeing to fight for the league title.
Mamunul Islam, captain of Chittagong Abahani, said that it would be not easy going for them to overcome the fight of the championship.
“It is very much disappointing that we could not do well in the Federation Cup despite being one of the top favourites. We among the title contenders failed to cross the first phase. I think it’s a good lesson for us. Hopefully we will do well in the league though it will not trouble free as three to four teams will fight for the championship,” said captain Mamunul Islam.
“Actually, the Eid holyday hampered the practice sessions so the players lost their rhythm if the practice would continue players’ would get back their fitness,” Islam, who is also the captain of the national team, said. Mohammedan Sporting Club, who formed a mediocre team with the mostly young players, looks to finish on top three teams in Bangladesh Premier League.
“Truly, I can say that we could not form a strong but we will try to fight with this limited strength. You know we failed to keep some of our key performers,” said Mohammedan coach Kazi Josimuddin Josi. Team BJMC, who finished on seventh position and played the semifinal in the Federation Cup, is expecting to improve their position in the league.
“Team has been practicing for long time. We hope we will be able to improve our position higher. We don’t like to undermine any team but there will be no scope to take us lightly,” said coach.
