RCC to set up CC cameras in 26 points

RAJSHAHI: The Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) is going to set up close circuit (CC) cameras in 26 important points in the metropolis for public safety, reports BSS.
"RCC is very much positive to ensure its public security and took the initiative of setting up modern CC cameras at a cost of Taka 60 lakh," said Nizam-ul-Azim, Acting Mayor of Rajshahi City, while talking to the local journalists here yesterday. The modern cameras will have no wire, but will be operated through radio link. There is no chance of damage by storm and rain.
Illustrating the salient features of the cameras Mayor Azim said identity of the criminals could be detected from far away as the captured photographs will be very clear.
On successful implementation of the project by this yearend, no criminals will go unpunished as they will be detected easily. Thereby, trend of crimes would be reduced to a greater extent here, the mayor added.
He told the journalists that Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) has also adopted a scheme of setting up close circuit cameras in 25 other sensitive points for public safety besides controlling traffic jam.  Of those, 16 cameras were installed in four points- Shaheb Bazaar Zero Point, Moni Crossing, Gourhanga and Luxmipur.
Replying to another question, Nizam-ul-Azim said the city corporation has set to start collecting information of the house-owners and the families who are residing in rented houses in the city soon for the sake of ensuring security to the city dwellers. It has asked its officials and staff concerned to take full preparation in this regard immediately so that the works are completed timely. It has also sought all-out cooperation of all quarters.
