Five Bangladeshi female mountaineers have completed basic mountaineering training from India. This was revealed at a press conference at the National Press Club in the capital yesterday.
Bangla Mountainering and Trekking Club (BMTC) organised the press conference. Many young females have been joining Bangla Mountaineering and Trekking Club since the conquest of the Mount Everest by a Bangladeshi team since 2012, the mountaineers shared their experiences at the press conference. After gathering experience in trekking on the Bangladeshi hills and Himalayas, the five female expeditors went to India and received training from Nerhru Institute of Mountaineering at Uttarkashi for 28 days.
The mountaineers are: Iffat Farhana, Fowzia Ahmed, Shayla Parveen, Reshma Nahar and Bibi Khadiza.
In the team a total of 106 people participated in the training and 92 of them successfully completed it. "We are happy we are completed the training successfully," said Bibi Khadiza who got training from India. "By 2020 a female team would be sent to Himalaya mountains. After the basic training they are now getting ready for climbing, Everester M A Muhit said.
Nishat Mazumder, first female Everest winner said: "It does not matter if these five girls do not climb mountains. It’s true that this training would separate them from others."
