Tom Saintfiet, the head coach of the Bangladesh Football team, revealed he has not got his expected squad yet, stating that he will set his best squad after watching some more games of the league.
“Now there is a group of 28 players’ squad and I will have to analyse the league games, really I want to see more players, some other players may not in this squad so I will have to include someone,” said Tom Saintfiet yesterday.
The newly-recruited head coach shared experiences that he gathered to work with the players for the six sessions of the last four days at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
He told reporters that he is satisfied with the boys for the last four days with players but he still looks for strikers.
“I want such players who can score more goals. I don’t know what the condition of Rony and Emily, how much they are ready to play and how they motivated. I hope coming weeks they will join and I will have more choice,” Belgium-born coach told reporters citing the names of Shakhawat Hossain Rony and Zahid Hassan Emily.
The new head coach said that he will take out the best formation, which suits for the team’s players.
“As coach you have to check things out, I am trying 5-3-2, 4-4-2 and different in formations, I am looking for adjustments which players can adopt. Coach never adopts with players but players have to adopt with the coach,” the coach said about his formation.
“Actually I am looking for a system, on which Bangladesh can bank on and fetch victories. My system is to win matches to qualify in the Asian Games,” Saintfiet revealed his secrecy.
“Football is always a team sports, team performance there are lot of individual sports like tennis, one player can win or lose, but in football 20 or 25 players have in a squad. I think a group of people who work together and committed to their job, to more efforts to reach the goal, if anyone makes mistake then another comes to the rescue,” the Belgian told in response to a query.
“It is not only a tactical or technical game, it is a physical and mental game also. Coaches have to think all their aspects. After four days we have six sessions, I am satisfied with the players’ approach at least their commitments. I feel group players willing to work still we have long way to go and still we have long time.”
Saintfiet is also happy with the surroundings, as he said, “Atmosphere is good, we have a good group but still have physical problems. Coaches can never change within four days, after playing six to seven weeks players will get fit. Only risk is players are going to play league without fitness. They may get injured, without buildup fitness if apply power they can have injuries,” Siantfiet worried but he believes that the coaches of respective players’ team will be careful about that.
“There is naturally risk if some of players get injuries before Bhutan match, I hope the local coaches are very well and will take care of the players,” Saintfiet repeated.
“Actually, it is a group of children to me. Sometimes you have to punish, sometimes you have to reward, but this group is very good group and disciplined one. All the players are very positive in mentality and attentive to listen,” Saintfiet commented about the players.
